Diet

The average American diet bears no resemblance to the diet of our ancestors. Theirs was a mostly plant based diet free of any synthetic chemicals (which were not yet invented) and where food was often scarce. This is an important point because these are the conditions under which our bodies, including our digestive systems, evolved. These days, invention and evolution are not even in the same universe when it comes to speed of development. It makes sense that returning to a diet closer to that of our ancestors holds the potential to improve our health.

Tips

So how do we fit a diet similar to primative man into modern man? Here's some tips:
  • Eat as many whole, organic, local, and/or plant based foods as possible. Our bodies were not designed to subsist on artificial colors and pesticide laden food.
  • Check out the Clean program, which provides a three week plan for purging toxins from our bodies. Don't buy the kit - see if you can find the book in your local library (I did!).
